Beethoven’s String Quartets Opus 74 “The Harp” and Opus 95 “Serioso”
The Engegård Quartet delves into the greatest pillar of the classical chamber music repertoire – all of Beethoven’s string quartets. This represents a before and after in music history. The Engegård Quartet comes to Kolben with two central works, written in 1809 and 1810, when Napoleon was advancing in Europe – namely opus 74, “Harp Quartet”, and opus 95, “Serioso”. They encompass everything from love to fear of war, and Beethoven’s irresistible ability to convey what it means to be human.
