The Engegård Quartet’s annual 123 festival took place from 16th-18th November 2018 at Nynorskens Hus in Oslo. This year’s focus was on Beethoven, and the programme for the festival included seven concerts featuring some of Beethoven’s best known chamber music works. A fantastic line up of artists included Tor Espen Aspaas, Georgy Tchaidze, Silke Avenhaus, Thorbjørn Gulbrandsøy, Marianne Thorsen, Øystein Sonstad and Øyvind Bjorå. In addition the theatre group ‘Den Mangfaldige Scenen’ Iraqi folk musicians with Vegar Vårdal and Shwan Wahed, and the Nordberg Strykeorkester participated in concerts emphasising the themes of diversity and inclusion. The Engegård Quartet performed early, middle and late quartets by Beethoven - op.18. no1, op.95 and op.130 ending with the Grosse Fugue.
Next year’s festival will be Brahms 123, which will take place from 8th-10th November 2019 in Nynorskens Hus.
