We are delighted to be named “Årets Formidler”/”Communicator of the Year” 2025 by arena:klassisk!

The jury’s statement:

Since its inception in 2005, this group has joined the ranks of top performers in Norway in their field. They have always enjoyed a busy schedule, and currently they are on a real high with tours both at home and abroad.

Since the beginning, this group has released an album a year, in which they have delivered outstanding interpretations of the greatest classics, and have also included older and newer Norwegian works. «These performances could not have been bettered» wrote Grammophone recently. «They are a stunning ensemble and play this often outrageously difficult music with total stylistic and technical grasp»… wrote Musicweb International. «This is an important recording of great music by a great composer”, wrote Klassekampen about this group’s recording of Johan Kvandals’s Quartets.

Throughout their career, this group have been in close dialogue with several composers, commissioning and performing several premieres. Traditional/folk music has also always had a place in this group’s repertoire. They don’t shy away from trying new ways of meeting their audience, and have several fruitful collaborations with musicians from a variety of artistic backgrounds.

Not least, this group has been a driving force in the capital's music scene, by initiating a concert series that started in 2012 and is still going strong. The group also has it’s own annual festival in Oslo, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary.

This year, the performer is celebrating its 20th anniversary in style and with a level of activity that promises well for many more years to come. The four members also contribute to Norway’s musical life in many other ways. We are of course talking about the Engegård Quartet!
